What made you...
What made you want to become a Mason? For me it was studying history, the amount of great men that were Freemasons really peeked my interest.
For me it was my Grandfather, unfortunately I didn't know about masonry until after he passed but he was a big influence on my life, and still is.

Same here.
The more people I talk to the more Im beginning to see that Masonry tends to skip a generation. It's amazing how many people say their grandfathers are the primary influence in them joining.
Since no member of my family was involved in masonry [AFAIK], my first interest in masonry came about through the conspiracy theories and storires of the Knights Templar. At the time I did indeed think masons were up to something. But, as the internet became more widely accessable and the various Grand Lodges became more open with information I was able to better desceminate [what I could tell was] the true draw of becoming a mason. After many years of watching programes and reading liturature from both sides, and personal contemplation, I finally decided to contact my local district about a face-to-face talk with a Member.
It was not long after this meeting that I decided to join.

I've heard that story from quite a few brothers as well, once people sift through all the crap out there they find the good stuff inside! Like finding a diamond in a lump of coal.
